Hey Mommies! I was fortunate enough to get the opportunity for my son and I to do a My Happy Pillow Review! Thank you Growing Up Katertot for putting in a good word for us. 🙂
Disclosure: I was given a My Happy Pillow in exchange for my review of the product. This is my 100% honest opinion.
The My Happy Pillow is a stuffed animal pillow that helps kids express emotions. As an occupational therapist who works with children with language and some social emotional delays, I think these pillows are AWESOME!
On one side, the animal face is happy. On the other side, the animal face is a different emotion. Zee the Monkey and Sunny the Bear are Happy and Mad/Angry. Shadow the Panda is Happy/Shy. Spotty the Giraffe is Happy/Bored. Leo the Lion is Happy/Scared. Rosie the Dog is Happy/Sad.
Emotions are sometimes difficult to learn, understand, and express by any child, and they become even harder when a child has a language or social emotional delay. These pillows provide a fun, kid-friendly way to talk about, learn, and express emotions.
It is often easier for a child to use pictures or an item to express how he/she feels when they are upset rather than using words. The My Happy Pillow provides a way for a child to show their emotion without having to verbalize it. They also provide a nice soft object to squeeze and calm down with when a child is upset.
The quality of the My Happy Pillow is excellent. It feels and appears very well made and is SUPER soft! The stitching is great. The colors are bright and vibrant. It’s well stuffed which is nice to see for a stuffed animal. My son has a few stuffed animals that are low on stuffing and have gotten all flat and lumpy after some love. My Happy Pillow does not feel like this will be an issue.
My only recommendation would be to have a more gender neutral version of the Happy/Sad pillow. I feel like a lot of children get sad or upset and some people may prefer to have something that isn’t pink to help express that emotion.
Overall, I would highly recommend the My Happy Pillow for kiddos. It is a great resource to use for children with language and social emotional delays to help express their feelings and also a great emotion learning tool for any child! They are also just super cute, soft, cozy, and fun!
Check out my son’s reaction to getting the My Happy Pillow in the video below. He really loved it and right away we talked about the emotions Sunny the Bear was feeling.
The My Happy Pillow could make a great gift, fun surprise, or be used in daycares or preschools to help with teaching emotions. Check them out at MyHappyPillow.com
